Abstract
En este trabajo se pretende hacer una revisión de la política exterior de Venezuela durante el gobierno de Hugo Chávez luego del golpe de Estado del año 2002, dando gran énfasis a lo que significó la figura de Chávez, tomando como elemento de análisis, la personalidad de este líder, y cómo de acuerdo a esta, se configuró un discurso anti estadounidense que lo acompañó hasta el fin de sus días. Para este estudio, se considera el modelo de análisis de Freed Greenstein en Personality and Politics (1969), por medio del cual será posible identificar las características propias de su personalidad, y por tanto, de su discurso, siendo todos estos factores explicativos de las relaciones exteriores de aquel periodo (2002-2013).
The following research aims to make a revision of the Venezuelan foreign policy during the Government of Hugo Chávez after the 2002 coup d'etat, emphasizing the meaning of Chávez's figure, taking as analysis subject the personality of this leader and how, based on this, his anti-American speech, which he had till the end, was shaped. For this research, we will consider Freed Greenstein's analysis model presented in Personality and Politics (1969), through which it will be possible to identify his personality features and, therefore, his speech, being all these explicative factors of the foreign relationships corresponding to that period (2002-2013).
